Julie Beckman (Director)
Julie is overjoyed to be returning to live theatre at ACT. Previous directing projects include this summer’s outdoor version of Alice in Wonderland with Theatre22 as well as Theresa Rebeck’s Downstairs which played in the Bullitt at ACT. Other productions with Theatre22 include Quiara Alegria Hudes’ Water by the Spoonful and The Happiest Song Plays Last, as well as The Revolutionists, Annapurna, and Fifth of July. Her adaptation of Jane Eyre played at Book-It, across the country, and at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Company in Canada. Other adapting and directing projects include the audio version of E.M. Forster’s “The Celestial Omnibus” with Theatre22, Dickens’ Hard Times and Raban’s Waxwings at Book-It, and Edith Wharton’s The Bunner Sisters. Other favorite directing projects include The Elephant Man, The Bells, and Fellow Passengers with Strawberry Theatre Workshop, A Small Fire with Sound Theatre Company, Bernie’s Apartment with eSe Teatro, and 26 Miles with Latino Theatre Projects. Julie has an MFA in Directing from Northwestern University.
