ACTLab was formed in 2007 as a partnership program to fill the four theatres at ACT with boundary-pushing art. ACTLab co-presents up to eight large multi-week productions per year, produced in one of our four theatre spaces. ACTLab partners act as sole producers on their project, with support and assistance provided by ACT. ACTLab partners are responsible for contracting all actors, designers, director, and other artistic and creative staff, as well as funding the production build and materials, unless otherwise agreed upon. ACT uses IATSE union labor for production of main-stage and ACTLab shows. The ACTLab partnership structure is designed to help offset the cost of producing at a regional theatre through a shared expense split and partner-supplied labor.
What ACTLab Can Offer
• Rehearsal space donated by ACT (as space is available)
• Performance space donated by ACT
• Marketing assistance provided by ACT’s team (plan to be mutually approved)
• Ticket revenue split (70% to the partner organization/30% to ACT)
• Shared IATSE & Front of House labor expenses (also 70/30)
In 2018, ACT welcomed online applications in an open call for exciting projects that was open from February through May, at which point we sat down and reviewed submitted materials to pick a 2019 season. Applicants were asked to complete and submit an online application, technical rider, preliminary budget, press kit and work sample, as applicable. The ACTLab continues to accept applications on a rolling basis until our 2019 season is filled. Due to the high number of applications received, ACT will only contact those applicants whose proposals are selected as candidates for the ACTLab. If you have questions about the current status of our applications process, please email us at email@example.com.
